Taylor Swift is Taylor Alison Swift. Taylor Swift is an American country and pop singer/songwriter. The songs of Taylor Swift tell the story of heartbreak and loss for a young girl. Swift showed an interest in music from a young age and she progressed quickly through roles in the children's theater to her first appearance before an audience of tens of thousands. Swift in 2011, then 11, sang The Star-Spangled Banner during a Philadelphia 76ers' basketball game. The year after that she started writing her own songs. Swift created original music which was influenced by country performers like Shania Twain (now known as the Chicks), and Dixie Chicks. Her material reflected Swift's experiences with tweens being apathetic. Swift's family relocated into Tennessee from Pennsylvania when she was 13so she would have more time exploring popular country music labels in Nashville.
